Frequently Asked Questions
WHAT IS NAUTICAL ID?
Question: What is the purpose of Nautical ID?Answer: The purpose is to create faster contact with boat owners so that problems around their boat are minimized. The QR code on the boat’s decal is linked to an info page where, among other things, the owner can be contacted. We also enable authorities and individuals to more easily identify a boat that has been lost or stolen and is found again.
Question: Is this a public register and can it be read by authorities, insurance companies and police?
Answer: The register is completely voluntary. If you are a boat owner and use our service, it is visible to insurance companies and police. It is completely up to you to decide which information you would like to be made public. If you do not wish to share your contact information, you will receive a notification when someone fills out the contact form on your boat page. If Nautical ID is contacted by an insurance company regarding a found boat, we will contact the boat owner who in turn may contact the relevant authority.
